This has been a pretty nice bike, very comfortable for extended solo riding days. Extrordinarily reliable bike for the first 22K miles, then the crankpin began to fail. I had Departure Bike Works in Richmond, VA rebuild the motor using the best of the aftermarket hard parts, then I immediately took it on a BRAG Adventure Ride ("Carving the Northeast") for a 3500 mile ride over 10 days. I had no problems other than a shifter detent that loosened. While fixing that, I upgraded the shifter detent to the 2000-spec part and installed a new primary chain tensioner. The exhaust hangers were replaced at that time as well.
Since then, there have been a couple of other failures traceable back to the original rebuild; these have been repaired, but there is now another noise inside the motor.
Reason for selling? I'm tired, and I have no time to do a proper job on the motor or transmission. Harley-Davidson, in their infinite wisdom, does not sell a "crate motor" for the Sportster or Buell, so simple replacement is not an option.
I want this to go to a good home, otherwise I would part it out. Price: $3,000, and I'll deliver it within a reasonable radius (400 miles) for expenses....
